Lasell Village’s Continuing Care: How It Works

To request an information kit about Lasell Village, please call (617) 663-7044.

Lasell Village is one of the most unique continuing care retirement communities in the country, because we’re also a university-based retirement community. We share a 13-acre campus with Lasell University, and we’re committed to lifelong learning.

As a continuing care retirement community, we provide all the levels of care you might need, at each stage of your life. We charge a one-time entrance fee, and then a monthly fee.

Independent Living Apartments
We have 182 independent living apartments, all of which have full-size kitchens. Ranging in size from 640 square feet to 1,933 square feet, some of the apartments also have patios or balconies. A pet-friendly community, we welcome dogs and cats.

Lasell Studios – Supportive Living
In Lasell Studios, residents receive continual support, including three meals a day, assistance with daily living, and 24-hour supervision. Residents with memory impairment or other chronic health issues can receive the care they need at Lasell Studios. The monthly fee for Lasell Studios is higher than the monthly fee for independent living. Please contact us for current pricing.

Lasell House – Skilled Nursing Facility
Lasell House, our 38-bed skilled nursing facility, has received a five-star rating – the highest distinction – from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). At Lasell House, residents can receive nursing care and rehab services, as well as hospice care. You can stay in Lasell House as long as you need the higher level of care, at the independent living rate, plus a fee for meals. Many types of healthcare events will be paid for by Medicare.

Entrance Fee
Like most continuing care retirement communities, we charge an entrance fee, which is based primarily on which type of independent living apartment you choose. With our standard contract, you or your estate will receive 90% of the entrance fee when you move out or die. With our declining balance contract, you pay a smaller entrance fee, but only receive up to 65% of the fee when you move out or die. Please contact us for current entrance fee prices and terms.

Monthly Fee
Your monthly fee in independent living includes your apartment, a meal plan, housekeeping, utilities, amenities, and activities. As part of the monthly fee, you also receive up to 60 hours of care per year from our on-site wellness center, and you can pay for additional hours as needed. These hours can be used for medication organization and reminders, health assessments, assistance with showering and dressing, help with support hose, and more. The monthly fee is based on the square footage of your apartment, as well as its location on campus, views, and other factors. On average, in the past 10 years, the monthly fee has gone up 3.5% per year, because of cost of living adjustments.

Benefits Of Living In A Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)

“I had lived my entire life in New York, and stayed there after my husband died, even though both of my children live in the Boston area. I decided to make the sacrifice of moving, so that my adult children would not need to travel to New York, in case of an emergency. I came to Lasell Village, after checking out 11 retirement communities, and with much trepidation, leaving friends of over 50 years. What a wonderful happy surprise awaited me. This place is so warm and welcoming and filled with  wonderful, intelligent, and caring people!!! I am so happy I chose Lasell. I find the courses here so interesting, and with the pool, fitness and exercise classes I am busy most of the day……and the evening programs and concerts are so special. I thought moving here would be a gift to my children (which it is), but I am delighted that I chose Lasell….it has been a gift to myself!”
