Some university-integrated retirement communities are located near a college or university. At Lasell Village, we’re actually on a higher ed campus – part of Lasell University’s 13-acre campus. Located in Newton, Massachusetts, we’re just 11 miles from downtown Boston.
Type Of College Or University
The type and size of the college or university could impact your decision. Founded in 1851, Lasell University is a private, liberal arts university that offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degrees. There are approximately 1,600 students enrolled at Lasell University.
Learning Opportunities
Learning opportunities are often the big draw for university-integrated retirement communities. As a resident at Lasell Village, you’ll have the opportunity to take college courses at Lasell University, alongside degree-seeking students, serve as an advisor or mentor to student groups and organizations, and attend lectures and events. In addition, there are courses and educational events held at Lasell Village every month.
Housing Options
Housing options, undoubtedly, will also heavily influence your decision when evaluating. At Lasell Village, we have 182 independent-living apartments. All of the one-bedroom and 2-bedroom units have full-sized kitchens, and some have patios or balconies. We’re a pet- friendly retirement community – dogs and cats are welcome!
Levels Of Care – Continuing Care
If you want to “age in place,” with the peace of mind that you’ll get the care you need, you might prefer a community that’s also a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). Lasell Village fits that bill. In addition to the independent-living residences, we also offer supportive care through Lasell Studios and short-term and long-term rehab services through Lasell House, a skilled nursing facility.
