When is the right time to move into a retirement community? Many seniors struggle with this dilemma, and there isn’t really a “right” answer that applies to everyone. In fact, the decision is an extremely personal one, a decision that couples sometimes can’t even agree on.

Below are some factors to consider when deciding whether it’s the right time for you to move into a retirement community.

Worry-Free Living
One of the main benefits of a retirement community is the worry-free living. No more home maintenance and repairs, yardwork, shoveling, or housekeeping. If home ownership has become more of a job than a joy, moving into a retirement community could be the answer. At Lasell Village, you won’t have to lift a finger! But as a bonus, we have “weather-free” walkways, a raised-bed gardening area, and many outside seating areas, so that you can still enjoy the outdoors whenever you choose.

Meals
If you’re tired of cooking for yourself every day, you’ll enjoy the meals that are provided at a retirement community. At Lasell Village, all of our units have full-size kitchens, but we also have a dining room (with wait staff), a café, and the option of take-out meals. So, you can cook for pleasure, not out of necessity.

Socializing
Retirement communities can offer built-in socializing. Community living provides a wonderful opportunity to make new friends. This support system can be especially helpful if you’re new to the area, have recently lost a spouse, or have been feeling isolated in your own home.

At Lasell Village, we offer a range of events, activities, and outings each month. And, as part of our commitment to lifelong learning, our residents can enroll in classes with degree-seeking students at Lasell University and also attend lectures and events presented by Lasell University faculty and other residents.

Healthcare Safety Net
A retirement community can offer a healthcare safety net, just in case you need it. At Lasell Village, as part of the monthly fee for independent living, our residents receive up to 60 hours of care per year from our on-site wellness center and can pay for additional hours as needed. As a continuing care retirement community, we also offer care through Lasell Studios (supportive living) and Lasell House (a 38-bed rehab and skilled nursing facility).
